Kazakhstan and Qatar intend to implement investment projects worth $17.6 billionKazakhstan and Qatar have signed an agreement to establish a long-term strategic partnership for the development of projects in priority sectors, the press service of the Government of Kazakhstan reported.Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov held negotiations in narrow and expanded formats with Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. During the meeting, the implementation of joint projects was discussed, and an agreement was signed.Among the largest investment projects are the construction of gas processing plants worth nearly $5.7 billion, the construction of the Aktyubinsk-Kostanay and Beineu-Bozoy-Chimkent (second line) main gas pipelines costing about $7.7 billion, the construction of a nearly $2.7 billion power plant based on a combined cycle gas plant with a capacity of 1100 MW and 350 MW hydroelectric power plants, as well as the construction of plants for the deep processing of wheat, peas and milk."We are on the verge of implementing large-scale and strategically important investment projects worth an unprecedented $17.6 billion," Bektenov emphasized during the meeting.The Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar also confirmed his interest in further enhancing trade, economic and investment cooperation."There is a good political basis for strengthening interaction between our countries. Earlier during the visit, the heads of our states expressed their readiness to take cooperation to a higher level and implement a number of joint projects. Our meeting today will allow us to implement the agreements reached at the highest level. For our part, we are ready explore new directions to expand and deepen interaction," he said. (ICE ALMATY)
