AL ULA OUTLINES FUTURE DEVELOPMENT PLANS

Saudi Arabia's Royal Commission for Al Ula (RCU) is planning further investment in mobility, power, water, information and communication technology, solid waste and distribution infrastructure. The planned infrastructure projects will cater to 2 million visitors a year and 135,000 residents by 2035, according to the RCU. It is understood that the commission plans to invest in eight transportation and infrastructure projects, including seven primary roads with a total length of 230 kilometres (km), in addition to over $1bn worth of projects currently under way in Al Ula. The RCU also plans to develop electrical networks across the Al Ula region's 19 districts. These include a 1,000-megavolt supply network and five new primary substations. In the water sector, there are plans to develop 16 projects, including a 1.3 million cubic metre strategic water storage tank, a 140 cubic metre a day storage tank and a 200km water transmission network with a capacity of 107,000 cubic metres. The planned network will include central and modular wastewater treatment plants with main and pumping stations. There are also plans to set up two solid waste treatment facilities with an estimated capacity to process 18 million tonnes of waste until 2043, including a material recovery facility, a green composting plant, construction and demolishing composting plants, landfills and common facilities. On the telecommunications front, the RCU plans to deploy a 1,000km-wide fibre optic network and 143 cellphone towers across the 19 districts in the Al Ula region.   Supplier Registration Guide: https://www.rcu.gov.sa/mediaportal/wmwppz30/supplier-registration-guide-portal.pdf   For registration as supplier: https://s1.mn2.ariba.com/Sourcing/Main/aw?awh=r&awssk=gbn2SP5pBLlIx0At&realm=RCU&dard=1 (ICE RIYADH)
