So far, they are used only on 16% of irrigated land, the government press service said in a statement.Last year, at the summit of the heads of Central Asia and the People's Republic of China in Xi'an, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev called on the leaders of Central Asian countries to implement new technologies in the water sector jointly with China.Due to the growing scarcity of water resources, Kazakhstan is also stimulating the use of water-saving technologies and reducing the area under moisture-loving crops. Thus, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, the area under wheat in 2024 will be reduced by approximately 3%, to 13.3 million hectares, cotton - to 100,000 hectares, rice - to 93,900 hectares.
