Over 44 million fraudulent calls blocked in Kazakhstan - Ministry of Internal AffairsSince the beginning of the integration of databases of anti-fraud systems of cellular operators, more than 44 million fraudulent calls have been blocked in Kazakhstan, Zhandos Suyunbai, head of the Center for Combating Cybercrime of the Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.“Since last year, we have been blocking spoof numbers from which scammers call. We, together with authorized bodies and mobile operators, have currently blocked more than 44 million such spoof calls,” Suyunbai said at a briefing in Astana on Thursday.According to him, in most cases, fraudulent calls come to Kazakhstanis from Russian-speaking countries, in particular from Ukraine.“Most calls come from Ukraine,” Suyunbay noted.In August 2022, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, together with the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry, organized the integration of databases of anti-fraud systems of cellular operators Kcell, KaR-Tel, Altel and Tele2.
