TATA DAEWOO TO SET UP SAUDI TRUCK MANUFACTURING PLANT

South Korea-based Tata Daewoo has announced plans to build a production unit for the manufacture of trucks in Saudi Arabia. Tata Daewoo signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with its local distributor Saudi Diesel Equipment Company (SDEC) and local manufacturer Perfect Arabia Factory (PAF). Tata Daewoo will provide technology support locally, while SDEC and PAF will collaborate to assemble Daewoo trucks in the kingdom. Tata Daewoo did not mention the proposed location for the project or its estimated investment. Headquartered in Gunsan, South Korea, Tata Daewoo is a wholly-owned subsidiary of India’s Tata Motors. Last year, the South Korean truck maker exported 670 large trucks to Saudi Arabia, achieving sales of $35.6m. (ICE RIYADH)
