The Lebanese agri-tech startup “Garbaliser” has secured an investment worth US$ 436,000 from Shark TankDubai, entailing a 12% stake in the company. This capital injection is expected to push forward the startup’sgoal to combat pollution through the transformation of organic waste into a liquid, eco-friendly fertilizer.Garbaliser’s product, the liquid fertilizer which is backed by patents, has demonstrated its ability to yieldcleaner produce and in larger quantities as compared with conventional chemical alternatives. This has ledto the startup building a robust clientele base exceeding 400 users in Lebanon’s Baalbek region with thecompany firmly establishing itself in the local market.  The newfound partnership in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which was bolstered by the Shark Tank Dubai  investment, is expected to push Garbaliser to extend its operations into the UAE market in 2024 with plans  for further expansions into Jordan and the wider region.  It is worth noting that Garbaliser was founded in 2020 in a bid to address Lebanon’s garbage crisis, which  was escalating amid the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic crisis. The core goal of Garbaliser was set to  tackle the issue at its source through the creation of a garbage disposal system facilitating waste separation.  This has led the founders to delve into matters of organic waste collection and the development of organic  fertilizer from bio-waste. The founders of the startup have also participated in the Jusoor Agriculture Small  Business Accelerator in 2022 leading to an expansion in their production to reach a 10,000 liter tank capacity.
