Kazakhstan makes amendments to legislation on doing businessPresident of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has signed the Law on Amendments to Some Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan Concerning Doing Business, the presidential press service said in a statement on Saturday.The adopted law makes 1,649 amendments to 114 legislative acts, mainly aimed at changing the government’s approaches to control and supervision over business entities from punishment to prevention of economic crimes.In particular, the amendments will allow the government agencies to counter and prevent threats in the following ten areas: sanitary and epidemiological health of the population, architecture, urban planning and construction, industrial safety, specially protected nature reserves and others.The amendments specify procedures for conducting investigations in such areas as the sanitary and epidemiological health of the population, the use of nuclear energy, plant protection and electric energy. The amendments also set forth requirements for control of procurement operations in the area of sanitary and epidemiological health of the population in order to prevent the sale of goods and products that do not comply with the sanitary and epidemiological standards of the Eurasian Economic Union.Some of the adopted amendments are aimed to improve the business environment in the republic by reducing the administrative burden and irrelevant requirements and by eliminating unnecessary permits and procedures for business entities. The other amendments were made to ensure a sufficient supply of feedstock to the domestic manufacturing enterprises at reasonable prices and to gradually discontinue the regulation of staples prices while preserving the support for targeted vulnerable groups of the population.
