Kazakhstan to introduce 300,000 tonnes quota for raw sugar importThe Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan has prepared an order introducing a quota for duty-free import of raw cane sugar in the amount of 300,000 tonnes.“In order to uninterruptedly provide sugar producers with raw materials for the subsequent saturation of the domestic market, at the EEC (Eurasian Economic Commission - IF-K) level, a benefit for the duty-free import of raw cane sugar from third countries in the amount of 300,000 tonnes has been agreed upon for the Republic of Kazakhstan,” the draft order says.The draft order is posted for discussion on the Open Legal Entities portal. The discussion will last until April 22.According to the draft order, the quota will be valid until December 31, 2024.Last year, the quota for the import of raw sugar was 350,000 tonnes.As reported, this year Kazakhstan intends to double the area under sugar beet crops, increasing them by 13,300 hectares to 26,300 hectares.
