Kazakhstan and Finland agree to launch joint container services from China via TITRKazakhstan's KTZ Express (a subsidiary of national railway carrier Kazakhstan Temir Zholy) and Finnish logistics operator Nurminen Logistics Services Oy signed a memorandum of cooperation to develop cargo transportation, the press service of the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan said following the meeting of a Kazakh-Finnish intergovernmental commission.The document describes the launch of joint container services from China to Finland and along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) via the territory of Kazakhstan."Consolidated cargoes totaling 2,204 TEU were transported via the territory of Kazakhstan along the China-Finland-China route in 2022. Import shipments came to Kazakhstan in 2023 via the TITR through the Black Sea from various European countries. The TITR route saw the transport of 506 TEU of groupage cargo in 2023," Deputy Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Maksat Kaliakparov said during the meeting."The TITR is a green corridor. Today, a reduction in cargo transit times from 23 to 14-18 days has been achieved, and this including up to 5 days in Kazakhstan," the deputy minister said.The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, also known as the "Middle Corridor," is an international transport corridor that runs through China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia and further west to Turkey and Europe. Part of the corridor is the commissioned Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.Previously, the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan reported that the volume of cargo transportation via TITR is forecast to increase to 4.2 million tonnes in 2024.
