The Polish Economic Institute (PIE) has reported that in Q1, 2024 the total number of ship calls to Polish ports decreased by 10.3% y/y and according to PIE economists, the decline is primarily due to the economic downturn, noticeable particularly in late 2023, as well as disruption in Black Sea shipping routes. The decline recorded in Q1 of 2024 was deeper than that observed during the first three months of the COVID-19 pandemic, i.e. Q2 of 2020, when the number of ship calls fell by 8.06%.
