Kazakh parliament ratifies agreement with Turkey on international intermodal transportThe Senate, the upper chamber of Kazakhstan’s parliament, adopted on Thursday the Law on Ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Republic of Turkey on International Intermodal Transport of Goods.The document is aimed at simplifying international transportation of goods using different modes of transport. The Agreement will also help increase the transport potential, as well as trade and economic relations between Kazakhstan and Turkey.It is expected that Kazakhstan and Turkey will step up freight transportation by motor vehicles, rail and water.According to senator Alibek Nautiyev, in 2023 Turkey was in fifth largest trade partner of Kazakhstan after China, Russia, Italy and South Korea.The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Turkey reached $6 billion in 2023, he added.
