Kazakhstan explores undersea oil pipeline and expansion of trans-Caspian transportationThe Ministry of Energy has revealed plans to evaluate the feasibility of laying a undersea pipeline in the Caspian Sea, while also considering the potential construction of an oil pipeline from Atyrau to Kuryk."In the medium term, we are exploring the construction of an oil pipeline from Atyrau to Kuryk," the Ministry informed reporters.Additionally, the Ministry emphasized its intention "to explore the viability of constructing an oil pipeline underneath the Caspian Sea."Furthermore, the Ministry expressed confidence that trans-Caspian sea oil transportation can be increased to 7 million tonnes annually, matching the current capacity of the Aktau port."To accomplish this, we'd need about 10 new tankers with a deadweight of 12,000 tonmes each to ensure safe transportation," the Ministry stated.
