NUCLEAR POWER PLANT’S COSTS ESTIMATED

Proxy at Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe, has said that the costs of constructing Poland’s first nuclear power plant, situated in Pomerania, are estimated at PLN150bn, plus or minus a dozen billion zloty or so. He also noted that the project was bound to be delayed as “there is not a single case in the world where a nuclear power plant was delivered on time.” “The global experience is not very optimistic, however, we are confident that the delay and the budget overruns will be lower than elsewhere,” he added. According to the schedule, the construction of the plant in Lubiatowo-Kopalino is to start in 2026, with the first unit commissioned in 2033 and another two over the next three years.
