Turkmenistan produces a wide range of fruit and vegetables – among them there are famous melons, watermelons and grape. The country's greenhouse industry is rapidly developing, which has allowed it to become one of the main exporters of fresh tomatoes in the Central Asian region.According to a recent report from the Agribusiness and Fisheries Department of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, export of Turkmen agricultural products in 2023 amounted to $135 million. This figure exceeds the previous year's indicator by more than 10 percent.Some Turkmen companies are already attempting to enter European market. Thus, Turkmen agribusiness was also present at the latest edition of the largest fruit and vegetable exhibition Macfrut.Eight of the largest and most export-oriented companies were present at Macfrut with the support of the USAID Trade Central Asia as a way to promote exports from Turkmenistan.Of course, companies were also interested to conclude buyer’s deals at Macfrut, in particular, finding and establishing long-term business relationships with global buyers and suppliers of production inputs such as seeds, raw materials, equipment, and technology.
