TEAMS FORM FOR NEOM INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Contractors are forming joint ventures to bid for upcoming construction work at the Neom International airport in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. The client issued a notice to contractors inviting them to prequalify for a contract to build the airport in March, with an initial deadline of mid-April. Neom International airport is separate from the Neom Bay Airport, which started receiving commercial flights in 2019. The airport is expected to be developed in phases. The first phase of the airport will have the capacity to handle 25 million passengers a year. The second phase could take the capacity up to 50 million passengers a year. There is an aspiration for the airport to become the largest in the world, with a capacity of 100 million passengers a year. In March last year, US-based Aecom had been awarded a contract to provide project management consultancy services for Neom International Airport. Aecom’s multi-year contract includes project management for masterplanning, design and construction services, through to testing, commissioning, and operational readiness, activation and transition. Plans are also progressing on the King Salman International airport (KSIA) scheme in Riyadh, where contractors are forming joint ventures to bid for upcoming construction work. Saudi Arabia plans to invest $100bn in its aviation sector. Riyadh’s Saudi Aviation Strategy, announced by the General Authority of Civil Aviatio, envisages tripling Saudi Arabia’s annual passenger traffic to 330 million travellers by 2030. It also aims to increase air cargo traffic to 4.5 million tonnes and raise the country’s total air connections to more than 250 destinations.   For registration as supplier: https://www.neom.com/en-us/our-business/suppliers (ICE RIYADH)
