Samruk-Kazyna will purchase almost 1 trln tenge worth of goods from local producers under import substitution program Kazakhstan’s Sovereign Wealth Fund Samruk-Kazyna will place orders with local producers for a total value of 966 billion tenge under the import substitution program, Samruk-Kazyna said in a press release.Samruk-Kazyna has formed a pool of 7,754 types of goods to be purchased, according to the press release.“The program will help domestic entrepreneurs that hold industrial or CT-KZ certificates to find their niches in the market,” the press release says.Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov earlier ordered that the number of offtake contracts between large enterprises and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) should be doubled by the end of 2024. There was no regulatory requirement for such contracts previously, but recent amendments to the legislation now make it mandatory for large enterprises to conclude long-term contracts with SMEs.Sovereign Wealth Fund Samruk-Kazyna JSC was organized in 2008 through a merger of Kazyna Sustainable Development Fund and Samruk Holding for State Assets Management. Samruk-Kazyna owns and operates strategic assets of Kazakhstan, including Air Astana, Kazakhtelecom, Kazatomprom, KazMunayGas, KazPost, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, KEGOC and others.Official exchange rate on May 4 is 444.14 tenge per $1.
