Kazakh government discuss discrepancies between agricultural statistics and actual situationThe government of Kazakhstan has held a meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin to address the problem of date inaccuracy in agricultural statistics, the government’s press service said in a Wednesday press release.“Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov said that some regions distort the [statistic] data. A few days ago, veterinary inspectors visited a number of villages in two regions to found out that the information in the electronic databases was 30% to 70% different from the actual number of livestock,” the press release says.The executive director of the National Chamber of Dairy and Combined Breeds of Cattle, Azamat Saginbayev, told the meeting that the actual production of milk in Kazakhstan is about 2.2-2.5 million liters per year, whereas the official statistics says that the republic produced as much as 6.3 million tonnes in 2023.Prime Minister Zhumangarin instructed the Ministry of Agriculture to work with all regional and district administrations in order to actualize the information in the electronic databases.
