KUWAIT'S PAHW ISSUES NEW HOUSING TENDERS

Kuwait’s Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) has issued two tenders covering the construction of new housing schemes.The first tender includes the construction of 1,985 houses, buildings and associated infrastructure at sectors BP4 and BP7, and the other tender covers the construction of 1,608 houses, buildings and associated infrastructure at sectors BP6 and BP9.The main contract tenders were issued on 12 May, and the bid submission deadline is 23 June.The latest tendering activity comes after PAHW received bids from contractors for two other housing construction schemes in January.The schemes involve the construction of 1,777 houses, buildings and associated infrastructure at sector BP3 and 1,568 houses, buildings and associated infrastructure at BP1.Kuwait construction marketThe construction sector has $7.8bn of projects under execution, making it the second largest sector after transport in Kuwait in terms of projects under execution. The largest subsector in terms of work under execution is mixed-use, with $29bn-worth of work under way, followed by residential at $11.1bn. PAHW is the largest single client in construction, with $1.8bn-worth of projects under construction.About $49.5bn-worth of construction projects are in the pre-execution phases of development in Kuwait. The majority of the upcoming construction projects are in the design phase, followed by the study, bid evaluation and main contract prequalification stages. (ICE KUWAIT)
