CROATIA AMONG TOP EU COUNTRIES FOR RETAIL SALES GROWTH IN APRIL 2024
According to the data published on 6 June by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union (EU), in April 2024, Croatia maintained its position among the EU countries with the highest retail sales growth, driven by an 8.6% increase compared to the previous year, Croatian media report. Meanwhile, Eurostat reports that, while retail sales in both the eurozone and the EU held steady in April compared to the same month last year, the revised data for March showed increases of 0.7% in the euro zone and 1.4% in the EU.Croatia maintained in April of this year its position among the EU countries with the highest retail sales growth, with an increase of 8.6% over last year.According to data from the Eurostat data, this positions Croatia among the top performers, along with Slovakia, which also reported an 8.6% growth – then, in March of this year, Croatia recorded an even higher growth rate of 8.9%. According to the Eurostat data, retail sales in Croatia in increased in April by 0.7% when compared to March, when it had risen by 0.5%, while Bulgaria had a growth rate of 0.8%, and Malta and Ireland both reported increases of 0.9%. Across the eurozone and the EU, retail sales in April remained at the same level as the previous year. Revised data showed that in March, retail sales had increased by 0.7% in the eurozone and by 1.4% in the EU.A monthly comparison shows a retail sales decline in the eurozone in April of 0.5%, while in March, retail sales had increased by 0.7%, according to revised data.
