South Korea intends to expand cooperation with Kazakhstan in nuclear energy and renewable energy sourcesSouth Korea is interested in expanding cooperation with Kazakhstan in nuclear energy and renewable energy sources (RES), the press service of the Kazakh president said in a Wednesday press release."We intend to expand cooperation in such promising areas as the mining of critical raw materials, nuclear energy and renewable energy sources. This is the right moment for two countries to expand the horizons of their cooperation," South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, who is visiting Astana, is quoted as saying.According to the Korean president, the relations between the two countries are at a high level today, and many of the Korean companies invest in Kazakhstan, thus helping create new jobs and develop the industrial production sector.Furthermore, the South Korean investors contribute to the modernization of Kazakhstan's infrastructure by participating in such projects as the construction of the Almaty Big Ring Road (BAKAD) and a gas-fired heat and power plant.According to National Agency Kazakh Invest, South Korea has invested more than $6.8 billion in Kazakhstan’s economy over the past 10 years. As at April 2024, the total value of the ongoing Kazakh-Korean joint projects stood at about $1 billion. (ICE ALMATY)
