POLAND AMONG COUNTRIES WITH LOWEST RISK OF POVERTY IN EU - EUROSTAT

Poland is one of the countries with the smallest proportion of individuals facing the risk of poverty or social exclusion, Eurostat, the EU statistical office reported. The 2023 'Living Conditions in Europe' report shows that 21 percent of the EU population (94.6 million) were at risk of poverty or social exclusion. The number saw a slight decrease in comparison to the year 2022 (95.3 million).Poland, with a result of 16 percent, appeared at the end of the list, together with the Czech Republic (12 pct), Slovenia (14 pct), and Finland (16 pct). The countries with the highest score were Romania (32 pct), Bulgaria (30 pct), Spain (27 pct) and Greece (26 pct). The risk of poverty and social exclusion is not dependent strictly on a household's level of income, as it may also reflect joblessness, low work intensity, working status, or a range of other socio-economic characteristics, explained the study (ICE VARSAVIA)
