President of Kazakhstan, US Trade Representative discuss conditions for strengthening economic cooperationPresident of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev discussed with US Trade Representative Katherine Tai new approaches to developing trade ties and creating the necessary conditions for strengthening economic cooperation, the press service of the head of state reported.During the conversation, Tokayev noted that over the past three decades, our countries have strengthened strategic partnerships in many areas, including trade, investment, security, human rights and democracy.“Your country is one of the largest investors in the economy of Kazakhstan. The total volume of foreign direct investment exceeds $65 billion. Last year, trade turnover between our countries reached a record high of $4.1 billion, displaying a 30 % increase. Currently, more than 600 American companies are successfully operating in Kazakhstan. I attach special importance to improving investment attractiveness, liberalizing the economy and supporting industrial development,” Tokayev is quoted as saying.For her part, Katherine Tai expressed gratitude to the head of Kazakhstan for the warm welcome and the opportunity to personally discuss new approaches to developing trade relations and creating the necessary conditions for strengthening economic interaction, including in the context of the implementation of the Framework Agreement on Trade and Investment.Tokayev emphasized that Katherine Tai's visit plays an important role in expanding trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and the United States of America.
