UKRAINE TO RECEIVE ABOUT $2.2 BILLION FROM IMF AFTER SUCCESSFUL FOURTH REVIEW.
On June 28, the IMF Executive Board completed the fourth review of the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) for Ukraine, enabling the country to receive an immediate tranche of $2.2 billion (SDR 1.66 billion). This brings total disbursements under the program to $7.6 billion.Ukraine has already received four tranches totaling $5.4 billion, including $900 million in March 2024. The IMF praised Ukraine's commitment to reforms and meeting structural benchmarks, including judicial amendments and support for small and medium enterprises.Minister of Finance Sergii Marchenko highlighted the importance of IMF support, which has provided over $8 billion since the war began. He noted Ukraine's progress in implementing reforms, even amid war, demonstrating its capacity for macroeconomic stability and EU integration.The IMF acknowledged Ukraine's stronger-than-expected economic resilience in early 2024 but noted worsening conditions due to Russian attacks on energy infrastructure.
