Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan signed agreement on joint investment fundThe Kazakhstani state fund Samruk-Kazyna, Azerbaijan Investment Holding (AIH) and the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan entered into an agreement to manage the joint investment fund SK-AIH Investment Fund Ltd., the fund's press service reported.The document was signed by Samruk-Kazyna CEO Nurlan Zhakupov and the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan, as well as a member of the supervisory board of AIH Mikail Chingiz oglu Jabbarov. The signing ceremony in Astana was attended by the presidents of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.“The document being signed is a shareholder agreement to consolidate the basic conditions for managing the joint fund SK-AIH Investment Fund Ltd. This cooperation is of a strategic nature for the bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan,” the information says.The activities of the Kazakh-Azerbaijani investment fund will be aimed at “mobilizing investments in various sectors of the economy of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, including the implementation of investment projects to develop the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR).”As reported, in March of this year in Azerbaijan, Samruk-Kazyna and AIH signed a strategic partnership agreement providing for the creation of a joint venture on a parity basis.According to information from the state fund, SK-AIH Investment Fund Ltd. registered on the site of the Astana International Financial Center on June 27, 2024.National Welfare Fund Samruk-Kazyna JSC was created in 2008. The fund manages the country's largest strategic companies, including AirAstana, Kazakhtelecom, Kazatomprom, KazMunayGas, Kazpost, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, KEGOC and others.AIH was created in 2020 to manage state-owned enterprises in Azerbaijan. AIH's portfolio includes the state oil company SOCAR (SOCAR), the mining company AzerGold, Azerbaijan Railways, the air carrier Azerbaijan Airlines, the sea cargo carrier Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping, as well as the Baku seaport.
