KAZAKHSTAN-TOKAYEV-SCO-SANCTIONS
Sanctions conflicts restrict global economy development – TokayevThe Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states should strengthen trade and economic ties against the backdrop of sanctions conflicts, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.“Sanctions conflicts cause significant damage to the global economy and narrow the prospects for further development. In such conditions, we will have to build a more flexible strategy for trade and economic interaction, aimed at maintaining positive dynamics and building potential,” Tokayev said at the Astana SCO summit on Friday.According to him, the share of SCO states in global GDP is 30%, and the foreign trade of member countries exceeds $8 trillion, “which is equivalent to a quarter of all world trade.”“I would like to emphasize that the new historical economic rise of Asia, which is taking place largely thanks to the SCO, is a stabilizing factor for the entire global economy. Kazakhstan welcomes China’s intentions to expand access of the SCO countries to its large-scale market and increase trade turnover to $3 trillion,” Tokayev emphasized. (ICE ALMATY)
