General Chair of the Indonesian Food and Beverage Producers Association (Gapmmi), Adhi S. Lukman, said that his party had received information regarding the discourse on Indonesian National Standards on sweetened drinks from the Government. He said that hopefully SNI will apply voluntarily as part of education. It is hoped that industry can follow standards and prevent industry from breaking the rules.The Director General of Agro Industry at the Ministry of Industry, Putu Juli Ardika, said that the aim of implementing the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) for sweetened drinks is the same as excise, namely to reduce the consumption of sugar, salt and fat.
