AL-ULA SEEKS FIRMS FOR CHEDI HEGRA PACKAGE

The Royal Commission for Al-Ula (RCU) has issued a tender for a contract to build the assets at the Chedi Hegra Hotel in the Al-Ula region of northwest Saudi Arabia. The notice covers the construction works on package seven, which includes four buildings. Two of the four buildings, which will house a spa and a fitness centre, have been designed around existing mud structures to preserve the historical and cultural elements of the region. The scope of work includes the preservation and restoration of the existing structures that will be incorporated into the construction of the new buildings. The tender was issued on 13 June and the deadline for bid submissions is 28 July. In April 2023,  RCU had partnered with Singapore-based General Hotel Management (GHM) to develop and operate the Chedi Hegra development. The luxury boutique hotel will be located within the Hegra Unesco World Heritage Site. The Chedi Hegra will features 35 guest rooms and four food and beverage outlets, as well as a spa and a swimming pool. The hotel will be built directly into several existing structures, including an old railway station and surrounding buildings such as Hegra Fort. Structural and exterior walls, some with historical mud-brick construction, are being preserved, restored and integrated with modern architecture. The hotel’s buildings will be interconnected by an overhead canopy. Most of the Unesco site will remain untouched by construction and will be preserved by the RCU to maintain the integrity of Hegra’s heritage. All design and construction efforts are set to align with the sustainability charter for Al-Ula. This includes a light-touch tourism approach, planting of native flora, an all-electric mobility system, the use of local construction materials when possible and collaborating with local businesses and labour.   Supplier Registration Guide: https://www.rcu.gov.sa/mediaportal/wmwppz30/supplier-registration-guide-portal.pdf For registration as supplier: https://s1.mn2.ariba.com/Sourcing/Main/aw?awh=r&awssk=gbn2SP5pBLlIx0At&realm=RCU&dard=1 (ICE RIYADH)
