Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, and Afghanistan discuss freight transportation to PakistanAt the first North-South trade and logistics forum in Aktau, Kazakhstan, a trilateral meeting took place among the heads of transport departments of Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, and Afghanistan, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reported on Friday.They discussed enhancing cooperation in the transport sector, focusing on cargo transportation along the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Afghanistan route extending to Pakistan.The officials also considered the potential joint construction of a railway from the Turkmen-Afghan border to Herat, Afghanistan.The Turkmen Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Afghanistan route is a key part of the North-South transit corridor, with initial cargo transport volumes projected at 5-8 million tonnes, potentially increasing to 20-30 million tonnes.
