UNICREDIT NOT NECESSARILY BACK IN BUSINESS
UniCredit S.p.A. has announced that it has entered into a binding agreement for the acquisition, for ca. EUR370m, of the entire share capital of Vodeno Sp. z o.o. and Aion Bank SA/NV, the former of which was established by Polish bankers, including Wojciech Sobieraj, one of the creators of Alior Bank. Commenting on the matter, Andrzej Powierża, analyst at the brokerage house of Bank Handlowy, has said that the companies taken over by UniCredit do not have a particularly strong position on the Polish market, therefore, the deal should not be viewed as UniCredit’s return to Poland. “As announced by UniCredit, this is rather a technology purchase,” he added.
