CYPRUS AIRPORTS EXPAND FREE WATER STATIONS TO REDUCE PLASTIC WASTE

Hermes Airports has increased the number of potable water fountains at Larnaca and Paphos airports, expanding options for passengers and staff to refill water bottles as part of its sustainability drive.  The operator has installed two new water fountains at Larnaca Airport’s Departure Gates 23 and 43, adding to two existing stations introduced in 2020.  Paphos Airport has gained an additional fountain at Departure Gate 1, complementing the existing one at Gate 7.  Hermes plans to further enhance free water supply in the coming weeks, with four new fountains slated for Larnaca Airport and two for Paphos Airport, to be distributed across arrivals and departures areas.  The Director of Aviation Development, Marketing and Communications at Hermes Airports, Maria Kouroupi, stated: “As Larnaca and Paphos Airports continue to grow, we are fulfilling our commitment to actions that support sustainability, while also offering options to passengers and airport staff to encourage the further reduction of plastic usage”.  The initiative forms part of Hermes Airports’ broader sustainability strategy, aimed at reducing its environmental footprint. The company says it conducts frequent checks to ensure water quality at the fountains. (ICE BEIRUT)
