KAZAKHSTAN-EU-BORRELL-ECONOMIC COOPERATION

EU, Kazakhstan to increase trade turnover, discuss cooperation in logistics, critical raw materialsDeputy Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu discussed increasing economic cooperation during talks with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy - Vice-President of the European Commission Josep Borrell."The parties paid special attention to discussing practical steps to develop cooperation in the areas of transport and logistics, digitalization, civil aviation, agriculture, production and use of critical raw materials and energy," the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said following the talks in Astana.According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, trade turnover between Kazakhstan and the EU in 2023 amounted to $41.4 billion (in 2022 - $40 billion - IF-K), exports - $31 billion, imports - $10.4 billion.Trade turnover for January-May 2024 exceeded $20 billion, a 14% increase YoY ($17.7 billion). Exports grew by 18% to $15.7 billion. Imports increased by 4.5%, to $4.6 billion.The European Union is the main trade and investment partner of Kazakhstan. The EU accounts for more than 30% of Kazakhstan's foreign trade and foreign investment.The volume of European investments in the economy of Kazakhstan since 2005 amounted to $180 billion.
