INDONESIAN TEA AND COFFEE PROCESSING INDUSTRY TARGETS PREMIUM MARKET
The Ministry of Industry encourages the processed food and beverage industry using tea, coffee, cocoa, milk, and fruit as raw materials to create special products to target the premium market. Indonesia is considered to have the advantage of biodiversity that can continue to be developed to present high-quality processed food and beverage products. In 2023, Indonesia's cocoa processing industry was able to contribute foreign exchange with an export value of more than 1 billion US dollars. In addition, 78 percent or 300,287 tons of the total production volume of the cocoa processing industry has been exported to 96 countries, including the United States, India, China, Estonia, and Malaysia. Exports of processed tea products in Indonesia in 2023 reached 37,878 tons or worth 74,12 million US dollars and the export volume of processed horticultural products reached 328 million tons or equivalent to 449 million US dollars.Meanwhile, dairy products that are developing in the domestic and export markets are cheese and yogurt products. The export value of dairy products increased by around 37 percent from US$7.8 million in 2021 to US$10.7 million in 2023. For yogurt products, the export value in 2021 reached US$20 million and increased to US$23.1 million or 15 percent in 2023. Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang said, one of the efforts to accelerate processed food and beverage products is by presenting specialty products.
