Saudi gigaproject developer Diriyah Company has started clarifications with the bidders who submitted prequalifications for the main construction works on the King Khalid Road, which passes through the Diriyah project in Riyadh. The estimated $1bn project includes the construction works on three interchanges and connects the King Khalid Road with the Northern Ring Road and the Western Ring Road. It is understood that interested companies submitted their prequalification forms on 29 July. Earlier in August,  Diriyah Company has received prequalification applications from firms for the main construction works on the King Khalid Road. The construction works on the tunnel for the Western Ring Road were completed late last year. The Western Ring Road connects Diriyah to one of Riyadh’s main highways at exit 38. It spans 435 metres and has eight lanes on the southbound and northbound routes. The tunnel was inaugurated in January this year. The latest King Khalid Road project comes as Diriyah Company ramps up its construction efforts for the Diriyah project. Last month, the client awarded two major contracts worth over $4bn, including an estimated $2bn contract to a joint venture of El-Seif Engineering & Contracting and China State to build the North Cultural District. The deal covers multiple assets, including hotels, the King Salman Foundation Library, King Salman University and the House of Saud Museum. In late July, Diriyah awarded another $2.1bn package to a joint venture of local contractor Albawani and Qatar’s Urbacon to construct assets in the Wadi Safar district of the gigaproject.
