CONSTRUCTION PROGRESSES ON MEDINA ISLAMIC WORLD DISTRICT(IWD)

Chinese engineering firm China Gezhouba Group International Engineering Company (CGGC) is progressing with the infrastructure development works on the first phase of the Islamic World District (IWD) project in the Medina province of Saudi Arabia. The excavation works are ongoing on the project, which is being built next to the Haramain train station. The IWD project covers an area of 900,000 sq m and is connected to the Haramain high-speed train station and the Medina Gate project, which is currently under development. The first phase of the IWD project includes the development of a mixed-use destination over an area of 151,000 sq m, comprising several hotels with a total of 5,061 keys, residential buildings offering 743 apartments, retail and associated infrastructure facilities. Overall, the IWD project will have a total of 14,000 hotel keys and 1,800 residential apartments. In October last year, the project developer Knowledge Economic City (KEC) signed an agreement with CGGC worth $970m to develop two projects in the Medina province of Saudi Arabia. The first contract, worth $400m, was for the development of the Al-Alyaa mixed-use project. The second contract, worth $570m, included the first phase development of the IWD. In June last year, KEC entered into a framework agreement with CGGC. The six-month agreement aimed to foster collaboration in the engineering, procurement and construction phases of specific KEC projects, including the Hub Residence, the Al-Alyaa mixed-use project and the South Area Infrastructure scheme. CGGC will assist the client in project planning and commercial and technical proposals for future projects, such as the KEC Hub Hospitality and the IWD project.   Contact of  Knowledge Economic city(KEC): Tel:             +966  92008484 Email:       info@madinahkec.com https://www.madinahkec.com/contactus?lang=ar (ICE RIYADH)
