POLAND IS THE FIFTH LARGEST EXPORTER OF COSMETICS IN THE EU.

According to data from Cosmetics Europe, cited in the report “Kosmetyczna Polska” by the Polish Cosmetics Industry Association and WiseEuropa, the value of the cosmetics market in Europe in 2023 amounted to EUR 96 billion (EUR 81 billion in the EU-27). Thus, Europe, together with the United States, are the largest cosmetics markets in the world. China is in third place, followed by Japan, Brazil and India. In the EU itself, the largest players are Germany, which maintains its position as the leader of the cosmetics market in terms of its value (EUR 15.9 billion), followed by France (EUR 13.7 billion), Italy (EUR 12.5 billion) and Spain (EUR 10.4 billion). Poland is the fifth largest cosmetics market in the EU (EUR 5.2 billion).In the years 2014–2023, the cosmetics market in the European Union grew by 34%, and the Polish market by as much as 75.3%, which was the second best result in the European Union after Lithuania (98.9%), whose share in the EU cosmetics market is, however, much smaller and amounts to 0.5%, while Poland's share is 6.4%.Poland's share in global GDP is around 1%, while in global cosmetics exports it is already 3.8%, which gives us ninth place (in 2022 it was 3.3% and 12th place). France, the leader of the cosmetics industry in the world, dominates the export of cosmetics from the EU-27 - it is responsible for 30.8% of the total export of the community. Germany, Italy and Spain also play an important role as the main exporters of cosmetics, with 16.2%, 10.5% and 8.5% shares, respectively. In some categories, Poland's position compared to other European countries is even stronger. Poland is the second largest exporter of oral and dental hygiene products, the third - toilet soap and the fourth - skin care, manicure and pedicure cosmetics. (ICE VARSAVIA)
