FREE MEALS PROGRAM AND GREEN ECONOMY TO DRIVE INDONESIA'S 2025 GDP
President Joko Widodo stated that the green economy and free meal programme will drive economic growth in 2025 by stimulating micro-business activities and enhancing exports. In his annual State Budget Address last Friday (16/8), the outgoing president highlighted that the free-meals initiative, part of President-elect Prabowo Subianto’s signature programme to feed 82 million children, teachers, and pregnant women, will cost the government approximately EUR 26.47 billion annually when fully implemented. The programme, set to begin with EUR 4 billion next year, is designed to enhance children's nutrition and support regional development by engaging micro, small, and medium enterprises.Additionally, President Widodo outlined that the 2025 state budget will focus on both short-term and medium-term objectives. Short-term objectives include boosting economic growth, improving welfare, and addressing regional disparities through initiatives like school renovations, food security improvement, and affordable housing. The medium-term goals aim at sustainable economic transformation, focusing on education, health, social security, and infrastructure development, while also continuing structural reforms and maintaining credible fiscal policies to ensure stability during government transitions.https://www.thejakartapost.com/business/2024/08/16/free-meals-green-economy-to-drive-2025-gdp-jokowi.html (ICE GIACARTA)
