The inaugural ceremony, scheduled for 7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 4 at Apostolou Pavlou Avenue 50, promises to be an event for both the university and the broader region. This celebratory gathering will showcase AUB’s brand-new permanent home and pay tribute to the noteworthy contributions of its Cypriot alumni to both their alma mater and their communities. Situated on the grounds of the former “Haroupomilos” complex, the campus is set to become a vibrant hub for academic and cultural exchange, bolstering AUB’s enduring commitment to innovation and community engagement. The event will be attended by an illustrious array of guests, including the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides; the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the American University of Beirut (AUB) Abdo George Kadifa; the President of AUB, Fadlo R. Khuri; AUB trustees; US Ambassador to Cyprus Julie Fisher; Paphos Mayor Phedonas Phedonos; AUB Mediterraneo Rector Wassim El Hajj; and university leadership, faculty, students, and other public figure. On April 8, 2022, the AUB signed an agreement with the Paphos Municipality to establish the American University of Beirut – Mediterraneo, AUB’s first campus outside Lebanon. Finally, the university noted that this is a milestone event in the history of the American University of Beirut, which was established in 1866. (ICE BEIRUT)
