Construction of the Kokshetau TPP to begin on Sept 10 – Energy MinistryConstruction of the Kokshetau thermal power plant will begin on September 10, Kazakh Energy Minister Almasadam Satkaliyev said at a meeting with workers in Kokshetau."I congratulate you, colleagues, on 10 September we will start construction (…). It will be a centralized source of heat supply, and we believe it will solve the problem of boiler emissions," Satkaliyev said.According to the minister, the station will be built in accordance with the requirements of Kazakh environmental legislation at the first stage, and European standards will be met at the second stage.Earlier, the energy minister said that the thermal power plant in Kokshetau would be launched this year.As previously reported, Kazakhstan plans to build three thermal power plants in cooperation with Russia in the cities of Kokshetau (with a capacity of 240 MW), Semey (360 MW) and Ust-Kamenogorsk (360 MW). PJSC Inter RAO has been involved in the implementation of the project.
