The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) is targeting a transaction value of US$1 billion in business cooperation agreements at the Indonesia-Europe Business Forum (IEBF) in Jakarta on 7-8 October 2024. The Director General of America and Europe at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Umar Hadi, said that the IEBF is an event to bring together Indonesian business actors with their partners in Europe. Meanwhile, this IEBF is the second time it has been held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after being first held in 2023. Several sectors prioritized for cooperation in this forum include technology and innovation, blue economy, green economy, tourism, creative industry and health. IEBF will be a place for Indonesian entrepreneurs to promote their products or services to European companies. In addition, this forum is also expected to open up new trade markets for Indonesia with non-EU member countries. Business opportunities in the European market are not only limited to member countries of the European Union. According to him, there are still potential markets in Europe that can be taken by Indonesian companies. A number of non-EU European countries are also interested in collaborating with Indonesian companies, for example Albania, Ukraine, and others.Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) Shinta Kamdani said that IEBF is an opportunity for Indonesian entrepreneurs to get to know the European market more comprehensively. She said that the European market still has a lot of potential that has not been maximized by Indonesia. Shinta said that Indonesia's export figures to Europe in the January-August 2024 period had reached US$11,33 billion and still recorded a surplus.
