CROATIA: EUROSTAT: CROATIA’S INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION SEES RECORD 8% GROWTH SINCE Joining EU
Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union (EU), reported on 13 September that in July 2024, Croatia's industrial production grew by 8% compared to June, marking the highest growth rate since joining the EU in 2013, Croatian media report. On an annual basis, Croatia's industrial production increased by 1.7%, recovering from an 8.3% decline in June.The Eurostat data show that Croatia's industrial production experienced a strong recovery in July, placing it among the EU countries with the highest growth rates.Seasonally and calendar-adjusted industrial production in Croatia increased by 8% in July compared to June, when it had previously decreased by 3.7%. This marked the highest monthly growth rate since Croatia's entry into the EU in mid-2013-Croatia's industrial production placed second in growth among EU countries, just behind Ireland, which saw a 9.2% increase. Belgium followed Croatia with a 7.3% increase. In contrast, industrial production in Malta, Estonia, and Romania experienced significant declines, with Malta registering the steepest drop at 5.5%.On an annual basis, Croatian industrial production grew by 1.7% in July, marking the first year-on-year increase since November of the previous year. This recovery followed a sharp decline in June, when production fell by 8.3%, the largest drop since May 2020, when the Croatian government implemented strict measures to curb the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).In July, Malta experienced the steepest decline in industrial production on a monthly basis, falling by 5.5%. Estonia and Romania followed, with production decreases of 4.8% and 3.4%, respectively. Ireland recorded the largest increase in production, with a 9.2% rise – and Belgium also joined the group of countries with the strongest growth, where production increased by 7.3%. (ICE ZAGABRIA)
