Kazakhstan ready to support efforts to boost Russian gas transit to Uzbekistan – Sklyar Kazakhstan will fulfill its share of work as required to increase the transit of Russian gas to Uzbekistan, First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar said.Indeed, some work needs to be done in order to boost gas transportation through the Central Asia-Center pipeline, Sklyar said at a plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum (SPIGF)."This process involves not only our country but also Gazprom and our Uzbek friends, for the work needs to be coordinated. (…) Our colleagues from Gazprom should step in to deal with capital expenditure issues and an increasing volume of gas transit through our country," Sklyar said."I would like to note that our gas transportation systems depend on each other. Our national companies coordinate their activities and will continue doing so. Those capital expenditures that will need to be spent in our country will be approved within the required timeframes,” he said.Kazakhstan and QazaqGaz has been and will remain reliable partners as far as hydrocarbon transit and transportation is concerned, Sklyar added.Supplies of Russian natural gas to Uzbek consumers via Kazakhstan began in October 2023. The supplies were set up in reverse flow via a specially designated route based on the Central Asia-Center gas pipeline system. Gazprom and the Kazakh government signed an agreement on strategic cooperation in November 2023 to further develop cooperation in gas supply, transportation and processing, as well as exploration and production.Gazprom and the QazaqGaz signed in June 2024agreements to provide services to transport Russian gas through Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan from 2025 to 2040. Gazprom and Kazakhstan's government signed an Action Plan on preparing the facilities of the Central Asia-Center-IV main gas pipeline to boost Russian gas transportation to Uzbekistan. (ICE ALMATY)
