QIDDIYA ADVANCES RED SEA INFRASTRUCTURE NEGOTIATIONS

Saudi Arabia’s gigaproject developer Qiddiya Investment Company (QIC) is making progress on negotiations with firms for the marine and dredging works at its Qiddiya Coast project, located north of Jeddah. QIC is working with selected firms on an early contractor involvement (ECI) basis. The ECI process requires selected contractors to submit project methodologies and a design proposal. The scope of work includes the construction of main channel dredging works, reclamation works, coral relocation, ground improvements, quay wall and stepped walls, a floating marina, a yacht jetty and other associated works. QIC will likely select the firm for the ECI contract by the end of this year. The site is located 64 kilometres (km) north of the Jeddah corniche, 12km from Highway 5, and is adjacent to the Durrat Al-Arus resort. QIC is already making significant progress with its Qiddiya Coast project. In August last year, QIC had awarded local contractor Abdul Mohsen Al-Tamimi Partner Group a contract for the early works on the Qiddiya Coast project. Canadian company WSP is working as a consultant on the project, which is expected to be completed by December 2025. The project is the latest development on the Red Sea coast to make progress. Other major planned projects include The Red Sea Project, Amaala and King Salman Bay. The Qiddiya Coast project will be built on a headland to the north of Jeddah and is expected to include assets such as water parks, hotels, apartment buildings and villas. US-based HKS has worked on the masterplan with other consultants, including Singapore-based Meinhardt.  QIC is also developing Qiddiya entertainment city, which spans over 360 square kilometres to the north of Riyadh. The project includes a Six Flags theme park, a water park, a motorsports racetrack, a World Cup stadium and several other attractions.   For registration as a supplier: https://projectsuppliers.net/en/approvals/qiddiya (ICE RIYADH)
