Kazakhstan's third-grade wheat harvest rises to 57%, boosting export potentialThis year, third-grade wheat in Kazakhstan makes up over 57% of the harvest, an increase from 35% last year, according to Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin.“This year, I would say the harvest is above average—not super exceptional—but 57% is Class 3 wheat. We haven’t seen such a situation in a long time. Last year, a large portion was lower grades and off-grade, which significantly impacted our export potential and the quality of some products,” he stated during a briefing on Wednesday. He added that this shift resulted in the exclusion of Kazakhstan’s products from certain markets, although he did not specify which ones.Zhumangarin assured that this year would be different, saying, “But these are transitional processes. This year, that won’t happen. The situation has been placed under strict control, both in terms of preserving the harvest and during the harvesting season. I believe we will manage this.”Earlier, farmers indicated that the market would primarily consist of fourth-grade wheat. The government also announced the completion of grain harvesting, totaling 26.5 million tonnes. (ICE ALMATY)
