MINISTER: INDONESIA'S BIOFUEL DEVELOPMENT WILL NOT DISRUPT PALM OIL AVAILABILITY
The Indonesian government’s plan to develop palm oil-based fuel B50 will not disrupt the Crude Palm Oil (CPO) stocks, said Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman, on Tuesday (22/10). B50 biodiesel is a fuel composed of palm oil and diesel in equal proportions of 50 percent. The government is currently planning the adoption of B50 in 2026, following the adoption of B40 planned for 2025. Indonesia requires 5.3 million tonnes of CPO to achieve B50 production which is small compared to the total CPO production, Sulaiman added. He further explained that Indonesia has an annual production capacity of 46 million tonnes, with domestic demand amounting to 20 million tonnes and export requirements totalling 26 million tonnes. Chairman of the Indonesia Palm Oil Association (GAPKI), Eddy Martono, has a different view. Martono argued that implementation of the B50 plan will decrease Indonesian exports, which can cause an increase in global vegetable oil prices.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/330749/indonesia-has-adequate-cpo-stocks-for-b50-biodiesel-production (ICE GIACARTA)
