Indulge in Italian cuisine during Italian Cuisine Week The 9th Italian Cuisine Week in the World (Sw. den Italienska Matveckan i Världen), a vibrant celebration of Italy’s culinary and cultural heritage, takes place from 18 to 25 November. Organised by the Italian Embassy in Stockholm in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute (IIC), Italian Trade Agency (ICE), Italian Chamber of Commerce (CCI), and the Italian Academy of Cuisine, this event showcases Italy’s world-renowned food and wine traditions. This year’s theme, “The Origins of the Mediterranean Diet: Health and Tradition,” invites participants to explore Italy’s regional culinary treasures and highlights the health benefits of the Mediterranean diet. The festivities begin with 22 participating restaurants across Sweden offering special menus as part of the “At the Table with Tradition” initiative. Each dish comes with a detailed history of its recipe and ingredients, celebrating the authenticity of Italian cuisine. Other activities include the screening of Sardinian short films, followed by tastings of Sardinian wines and regional dishes. The event “At the Roots of Gelato” features Alessandro Cesari presenting ice cream made with ingredients handpicked in Stockholm during his stay. Wine aficionados will relish the Italian Wine and Gourmet Days at Stockholm’s Grand Hotel, featuring two days of wine tastings and the prestigious “Marchio Ospitalità Italiana 2025” awards for top Italian restaurants and pizzerias in Sweden. The week concludes with “Italian Cheese Day” at Ostrummet Sabis, where producers from across Italy will share the secrets behind their exceptional cheeses.Whether you’re a foodie, wine enthusiast, or culture lover, Italian Cuisine Week promises a delightful dive into the flavours and traditions of Italy, all without leaving Stockholm.
