LITHUANIA TO DISMANTLE POWER LINES WITH RUSSIA, BELARUS IN 2025

On October 25, 2024, Lithuania's electricity transmission system operator, Litgrid, announced that the power transmission lines connecting Lithuania with Russia and Belarus will be disconnected on February 8, 2025, as part of the Baltic states' plan to synchronize their energy systems with Western Europe. This marks the expiration of the BRELL agreement, a joint electricity system involving Russia, Belarus, and the Baltic countries. The dismantling of the power lines will begin immediately after the disconnection. The synchronization process is expected to be completed on February 9, 2025, when the Baltic states will operate independently from the Russian IPS/UPS system. (ICE VARSAVIA)
