Kazakh prime minister and Italy’s Maire Tecnimont and Ansaldo Energia discuss production localizationKazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov held on Friday meetings with the leadership of Italy’s Maire Tecnimont and Ansaldo Energia to discuss a possibility of production localization in pursuance of the memorandums that were concluded on the sidelines of the Kazakh-Italian conference in Rome in January 2024, the government’s press service said in a press release."During the talks with Ansaldo Energia CEO Fabrizio Fabbri, the sides discussed measures to improve the efficiency of the energy infrastructure using innovative technologies. The experience of the Italian company in development of gas and steam turbines could be very useful here," the press release says.According to the previously reached agreement, two gas turbines will be produced for Almaty power plant TETS-3. "So, the both parties are interested in mutually beneficial cooperation and intend to localize the production of components for gas turbines in Kazakhstan," the press release says.At the other meeting which was with Maire Tecnimont CEO Alessandro Bernini, the sides discussed cooperation in deep processing of hydrocarbons and increasing the production of competitive products with high added value."Kazakhstan is currently implementing large-scale projects to build plants that will produce polymers and other important products that are in demand on the international markets. In turn, Maire Tecnimont is interested in investment projects for the production of polyethylene, butadiene, sustainable aviation fuel, and for the construction of a gas separation complex," the press release says.Kazakhstan expects that the partnership on the sustainable aviation fuel project will be a significant contribution to development of green technologies in the republic's aviation industry. "The production of this fuel will reduce carbon emissions, improve the environmental safety of flights and strengthen Kazakhstan's position in the global market of environmentally friendly technologies," the press release says.Bektenov said that the government of Kazakhstan is determined assist foreign investors at all stages of the implementation of joint projects.
