Gazprom, Kazakhstan sign principal terms to process, sell Karachaganak gas in 2025-2026 (Part 2)Gazprom (MOEX: GAZP) and Kazakhstan have signed an agreement on the principal terms and conditions for processing and selling gas from the Karachaganak field for 2025-2026, Gazprom said on Monday following the working meeting between Gazprom CEO and management board chairman Alexei Miller and Kazakh First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar in St. Petersburg.Gazprom said that the parties discussed the progress and prospects of the collaboration, particularly regarding gas supplies and transportation.The meeting occurred ahead of President Vladimir Putin's visit to Kazakhstan.The Karachaganak oil and gas condensate field is located in the Aksai District, Uralsk Region, Kazakhstan, at 130 kilometers from Orenburg Gas Processing Plant.Gazprom and KazMunayGas have been collaborating as part of the KazRosGas joint commercial enterprise since 2002. The respective parties established the joint venture on a parity basis to purchase gas from the Karachaganak field, process the gas at the Orenburg GPP, and sell it to consumers in Kazakhstan and Russia. Karachaganak Petroleum Operating BV and KazRosGas in 2007 signed a long-term contract for the sale and purchase of gas from the Karachaganak field, and the parties extended the contract in 2015 to supply up to 9 billion cubic meters of gas per year until 2038.Gazprom in October 2023 launched supplies of Russian natural gas to consumers in Uzbekistan via Kazakhstan. Supplies occur in reverse mode along a specially designated route via the Central Asia-Center main gas pipeline system.Gazprom and Kazakhstan's government in November 2023 signed an agreement on strategic cooperation.
