EXPORT OPPORTUNITIES DRIVEN BY CROSS-BORDER E-COMMERCE
More than 17 million Vietnamese products were exported in 2023, representing an on-year increase of 50 per cent in value and 40 per cent in the number of partners. Overall, cross-border e-commerce grew 26 per cent in the same period."These figures demonstrate the great potential and continuous efforts of Vietnamese businesses in leveraging digital platforms to expand international markets," according to a report by Amazon Global Selling VietnamVietnam is also reportedly in the Top 10 for e-commerce growth in the world. The country's e-commerce sector was worth $20.5 billion in 2023 and is expected to reach $45 billion in 2025.These figures were discussed at a forum on cross-border e-commerce, organised by the Vietnam E-Commerce and Digital Economy Agency (iDEA) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade on November 26.Le Hoang Oanh, director general of iDEA, said, "E-commerce is an effective way to boost import and exports. We have heard statistics from just one e-commerce platform, but there are many others. These figures are clear evidence of the great potential and the constant efforts of Vietnamese enterprises in taking advantage of digital platforms to expand international markets."There were more than 50 booths participating at the event, including many booths from Vietnam and Asia. The exhibition brought opportunities for trade connections, helping domestic enterprises seek business opportunities, establish long-term cooperative relationships with international suppliers as well as logistics partners, e-commerce platforms and enterprises in the industry.
