The Cabinet, in its session on Saturday, with Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan presiding, has approved a draft law amending the Social Security Law for the year 2024. The draft law will be sent to the National Assembly for further approval procedures. Among the key provisions in the draft is the extension of maternity leave from (70) days to (90) days, aligning with anticipated changes in the Labor Law. Additionally, the draft ensures that maternity allowance is paid for a period of (90) days once the Labor Law amendment comes into effect. These adjustments are part of the government's initiative for economic modernization, aiming to improve the work environment, boost women's economic participation, and stimulate investment, growth, and opportunities.
